One Killed In Virginia Crash Under Investigation: Police (Developing)

Officials in Virginia say that one person was killed in an early-morning two-vehicle crash in Fairfax County.

Members of the Fairfax County Police Department were called to investigate the fatal crash shortly before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the 2900 block of Prosperity Avenue in Merrifield according to officials.

The initial investigation found that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The condition of the other driver or passengers was not immediately available on Tuesday morning.

According to investigators, the crash led to a closure of Prosperity Avenue between Route 50 and Route 29 while members of the Fairfax County Police Department investigated the scene.

No information about the victim or events leading up to the crash has been released.

Crash Reconstruction detectives from the Fairfax Police Department responded to the scene to investigate, according to the department. Motorists have been instructed to follow police directions in the area.

The crash remains under investigation.
